Labiaplasty in Phoenix, AZ

Maybe your labia get pinched in your leggings, rub on the bike seat, or tug during sex. Maybe you’ve just never liked how they look. Both are valid reasons to ask about labiaplasty.

Everyone is different. There’s no normal and no wrong. Labiaplasty reshapes or reduces the labia minora (the inner lips), and sometimes the labia majora (the outer lips), with a natural-looking result as the goal.

What Is Labiaplasty?

Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that reshapes the labia for women whose labia cause functional or aesthetic concerns.

Labia come in an enormous range of shapes and sizes. There’s no normal and no wrong, so labiaplasty isn’t about fixing something that’s wrong. It’s for women whose labia are bothering them physically, functionally, emotionally, or any combination.

Why Women Choose Labiaplasty

  • Physical discomfort, like rubbing, pinching, or chafing during exercise, cycling, or in tight clothing.
  • Pain or tugging during sex.
  • Irritation and hygiene issues from tissue that folds or traps moisture.
  • Changes after childbirth or with age, including asymmetry that wasn’t there before.
  • Appearance. Feeling self-conscious is a legitimate reason, too.

Your Consultation

We start with what bothers you and why, then do a careful exam. Sometimes the right answer is surgery. Sometimes it’s a non-surgical option, and sometimes it’s reassurance that everything looks the way it should.
There’s more than one way to do a labiaplasty. Based on your anatomy and goals, we’ll talk through the approach, whether the clitoral hood should be addressed too, and what a realistic result looks like.
If you’d rather avoid surgery, non-surgical labiaplasty with our subdermal laser may be worth trying first. Surgery is still an option later.

The Procedure

Labiaplasty is done in our office under local anesthesia, with the option of an oral anti-anxiety medication like Valium. We use a radiofrequency surgical device, which allows precise, controlled cutting and seals small blood vessels as it goes. The tissue is then closed with fine, dissolvable stitches.

Plan on about four hours total for prep, the procedure, and recovery before you head home the same day.

Recovery

Swelling and soreness are normal and peak in the first few days. Cold packs, loose clothing, and rest help. Most women return to desk work within a few days to a week.
Plan on avoiding vigorous exercise for about four weeks, and sex and tampons for about six weeks, while the tissue heals. We’ll give you exact instructions.
Like any surgery, labiaplasty carries risks, including bleeding, infection, the incision separating as it heals, asymmetry, scarring, changes in sensation, and occasionally the need for a revision. Careful technique and realistic planning keep those risks low, and we’ll go over them in detail.
Call us if you have bleeding that won’t stop, fever, pain that gets worse instead of better, or swelling or redness that keeps spreading.

When Will I See My Result?

Swelling settles gradually. Most women see their near-final result by about three months, with subtle refinement up to six months.

Results vary. Your plan and expectations will be based on your own evaluation.

Labiaplasty FAQs

Is my anatomy normal?

There’s no normal and no wrong. Labia vary enormously. The only question is whether something bothers you enough to change it.

The goal is to preserve sensation, and careful technique matters a lot here. Changes are possible, and we’ll talk honestly about them.

Incisions are placed along natural edges and usually heal to be very hard to see.

Usually after about six weeks, once you’re fully healed.

Surgery removes excess tissue. Non-surgical labiaplasty tightens tissue without removing it, as a minor treatment for women looking to avoid surgery.
