You’ve probably seen the ads. Shockwave for ED is everywhere right now, and not all of it is the same treatment.
Here’s what shockwave actually does, why the device matters more than the marketing, and how we use it.

Low-intensity shockwave therapy sends pulses of acoustic energy into the erectile tissue. That energy triggers a repair response: new small blood vessels, better blood flow, and healthier tissue over time.
It isn’t a quick fix like a pill. The goal is to improve how things work on their own, which is why results build over weeks to months.
Not every “shockwave” device is the same. Many clinics use radial or “acoustic wave” devices, which spread energy near the surface. Most of the randomized trial evidence for ED comes from focused, low-intensity devices that deliver energy deeper into the erectile tissue.
We use the Storz Duolith, a true focused shockwave device. If you’re comparing clinics, it’s the first question worth asking: is your device focused or radial?
Low-intensity, focused shockwave, twice a week, for up to 12 treatments over six weeks.
Each session takes about 20 minutes. No numbing, no needles, and no downtime.
Some men notice changes during the six-week series, but most of the improvement builds over the one to three months after it ends, as new blood vessels form.
Results vary. Your plan and expectations will be based on your own evaluation.

Randomized trials and pooled analyses show that low-intensity focused shockwave improves erectile function in men with ED caused by blood flow problems, especially mild to moderate cases. Results are less consistent in severe ED.
Professional guidelines differ: European urology guidelines support it for mild ED caused by blood flow problems, while U.S. guidelines have been more cautious. We’ll tell you honestly whether you’re a good candidate.
Shockwave is part of our ED Complete Program: $15,000 for six months, including testing, the Doppler ultrasound, shockwave, PRP, Botox, medication, and outcome tracking.
We rarely recommend shockwave on its own, because it works best as part of a plan that addresses the cause. If you’re set on shockwave alone, we’ll have an honest conversation about realistic expectations first.
A true focused shockwave device, a real diagnosis before treatment, and an honest answer about whether shockwave is likely to help you. That combination is rarer than it should be.
Most men feel tapping or mild buzzing. No numbing is needed.
GAINSWave is a branded protocol, and the devices used vary from clinic to clinic. The more important question is whether the device is focused or radial. Ours is focused.
Yes. There’s no downtime.
Maybe, at least at first. Some men find they need less over time.
It’s less effective for ED caused mainly by nerve damage. We’ll talk through other options that work better in that situation.
