Medical Weight Loss in Phoenix, AZ

The new weight loss medications really work. They work even better with a doctor who measures more than your weight.

In midlife, the goal isn’t just a smaller number on the scale. It’s losing fat while keeping the muscle that keeps you strong, steady, and healthy for decades.

Why Midlife Weight Is Different

If the habits that used to work suddenly don’t, it isn’t a willpower problem. Midlife brings hormone shifts (especially around menopause), gradual muscle loss, worse sleep, and rising insulin resistance. All of them make weight easier to gain and harder to lose.

Our Approach: Fat Down, Muscle Up

Fast weight loss can take muscle with it, and muscle is what protects your metabolism, bones, and balance as you age. So we track your body composition, not just your weight, and build a plan to protect lean mass: enough protein, strength training, and adjustments when the numbers say so.

Getting Started

A full history, labs, and a body composition scan, so we know your starting point and whether something like thyroid problems, insulin resistance, or menopause is part of the picture.
We’ll walk through your options, their side effects, and their costs, and pick what fits your health and budget.
Nutrition guidance, a strength plan, and regular check-ins, so the results last.

Treatment Options

  • GLP-1 medications (semaglutide and tirzepatide). The most effective weight loss medications available. In clinical trials, people lost about 15% (semaglutide) to 20% (tirzepatide) of their body weight on average. We prescribe FDA-approved versions, including the manufacturers’ lower-priced self-pay options.
  • Contrave (naltrexone and bupropion). An FDA-approved alternative that works on appetite and cravings, for people who can’t take or don’t want a GLP-1.
  • Low-dose naltrexone (LDN). Sometimes used as an add-on, prepared by a licensed compounding pharmacy. The evidence for weight loss is limited, and we’ll be honest about that.
  • Treating what’s underneath: menopause symptoms, poor sleep, low testosterone, or thyroid problems that make weight harder to manage.

Ready for a Plan That Measures What Matters?

What to Expect

GLP-1s start at a low dose and step up gradually, which keeps side effects like nausea manageable.
Nausea, constipation, and reduced appetite are common early on and usually ease with time. We’ll adjust the dose if needed.
We check your body composition every six months and adjust protein and strength training to protect lean mass.
Weight often returns if medication is stopped abruptly. We’ll plan for maintenance from the start, including how and whether to taper.

When Will I See Results?

Most people notice less hunger within the first few weeks. Weight loss builds steadily over months, with the biggest changes usually in the first year.

Results vary. Your plan will be based on your own evaluation.
